Born in 1959 in Poznan, Poland, Adam Kalinowski studied at the Department of Cultural Anthropology at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Poland where he received an M.A. in 1986.  He continued his studies and received another M.A. from Ministry of Culture, Department of Visual Arts, Warsaw in 1992. In 1998 he established The Tadeusz Kalinowski Art Foundation. He currently resides in Poznan and is the author of outdoor projects and critical texts.

Both works seem, at first sight, quite opposite and different, but, in fact, they are linked together in their simple necessity to eliminate the thoughts and notions we have nowadays in life toward death and nature.

The Branch

THE BRANCH is a floating object in the air resembling the branch of a tree. The fact that the work floats creates a loss of the literal sense of a branch and of it being a representation of anything.

The Grave

The project located near the red barn is a model for a large outdoor installation called THE GRAVE. The scale is approximately 1:8 or 1:10; the final length being 100-120 ft long. The shape of the work mimics the shape of a dead body lying on the ground. All of final elements of the sculpture will be planted with grass producing an organic kind of space.
