As it is in heaven

Van der Molen's installation at I-Park shows the third part of her environmental  trilogy: As it is in heaven. The three bowl shaped pieces are basic places for experiencing the surroundings they are placed in. The project started last year in the mountains of Kamiyama, Japan. The green stone piece, contrasting the red earth, reaches out of the mountain slope, inviting anyone to lie down in it. The second piece was built in the French Alps. The grass and wooden bowl lies on top of a little slope next to a shepherds house ruin. In the wide and wild nature, it gives an impression of the origin of human presence and longing for connection in an environment that can be beautiful and hostile. The piece at I-Park hangs between trees. The object is woven with hay and has an opening to stick your head in where one enters the world alone, beginning from one’s own perception. Just a small space, getting wider and wider, reaching towards the sky.
