| Pat van Boeckel (born in The Netherlands, 1962) is an independent documentary maker, director and video artist. A six month long journey visiting American Indian reservations in 1986 marked the beginning of his development as autodidact and freelance filmmaker. His video art is characterized by simplicity and can be seen as a comment on the modern rapid and transitory image culture because of its slow and fluent tempo. Documentaries by van Boeckel are regularly shown on Dutch television, he participated in filmfestivals in Londen and Greece. His video art was exhibited in museums and art projects in The Netherlands, Denmark and Japan. |

Snow
(Installation in Pine Hills)
The pine needles change color after they fall from the tree.
They form an undulating blanket that covers everything.
This needle blanket has the same effect as snow in the winter.
As time changes everything, the scenery is never the same.
The needles become a white river, starting from the roots of life.
We are more connected to the seasons as we think. |

Objects may seem closer
than they appear
(Drive in movie installation in
a 1954 Buick)
The coming back to life reports of a rusty ruin of a car parked in forgotten
times in I-Park.
How things without value become valuable again.

Two Sides of Life
Through the little yellow cottage at the pond there is a line with drying clothes.
Following this line you will get into a video installation that creeps into the
other side of our existence. |
