Marco Dessardo France/Italy www.dessardo.com Stylite Exodus (a site specific sculpture and a video movie) |

This sculpture consists of a system of traces of a recent settlement at I-Park. The location is near the meadow, and near this meadow you will find the marks left by somebody who had inhabitated this place. If he is an imaginary person or the artist himself, nobody really knows. Anyway, this tenant organized the place and many signs remain: accumulations of wood, the grass trampled down, the branches cut, footprints, a canoe, a clothesline, an unidentifiable piece of machinery, a place to sit . . . . Gathering and analyzing these traces, one might attempt to reconstruct his way of living, his intentions. He is an engineering version of David Thoreau. This is a sculpture about space and time, about past and memory, about the fabric of life. A movie is produced around the Stylite Exodus. It consists partly as a document of the actual installation, partly as a fiction. The movie produced is a “site specific fiction.” To view Mr. Dessardo's video, please click here. |
