Mayumi Ishino

Mayumi Ishino is from Tokyo, Japan. She currently lives and works in New York City. She has exhibited and performed her work extensively since she graduated with MFA in sculpture from the New York Academy of Art in 2001. In April 2007 she participated in Perfurbance #3 International Performance Art Festival in Java, Indonesia. During her invitation to Indonesia, she had also held a performance workshop in Bali, organized by Arti Foundation. Her other exhibitions include Serious Games (2007), Renegades (2006), Wild Girls/Wild Nights (2006), prayingproject (2005) - all at Exit Art, NY. In 2006, Artinfo described her work as a “satisfactory cross between a Zen ritual and some Fluxus fun”. Her drawings on paper are on view in the Flatfile at Pierogi Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. Mayumi was an artist-in-residence (sculpture) at I-Park during the 2003 and 2006 sessions.
