I am interested in human scale and the subjective experience that defines place. How we relate to our surroundings both collectively and as individuals is influenced by how we personally perceive our rank within the hierarchy of the natural order. Innate within us is the impulse to modify our environs to suit our needs. In recent work, I have been using color to reveal a human trace. Chromatic intensity in nature has a connection to energy consumption and is typically ephemeral. In these outdoor contexts, I see it as a kind of supplemental ultra-vision, vividly illuminating the environmental friction of the human presence.
