Alison Meyers Appointed Executive Director of I-Park Foundation, Inc.


The Board of Directors of I-Park Foundation, Inc., Connecticut’s premier open-air and closed-studio laboratory for creative pursuits in the arts and landscape/ecological design, is pleased to announce the appointment of Alison Meyers as Executive Director. She assumed her position on May 31, 2018, succeeding Joanne Paradis, I-Park’s co-founder and Executive Director since 2012.

“With her deep background and immense skills in executive and artistic leadership, Alison will shepherd I-Park into its next phase of organizational development. The board and staff are very enthusiastic about the prospect of working with, and being inspired by, Alison,” says Ralph Crispino, Jr., I-Park’s co-founder and Board Chairman. The public is invited to attend Open Studios Day at I-Park, June 17, 2018, 2 – 5 pm, 428 Hopyard Road, East Haddam, CT, to meet Alison, converse with resident artists, and view the artists’ works across several disciplines.

A nonprofit arts consultant, Alison Meyers most recently served as Director of Development at the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses (New York, NY). For a decade, 2006 – 2016, she directed Cave Canem Foundation (Brooklyn, NY), a national organization founded in 1996 to remedy the under-representation and isolation of black poets in the literary landscape. Previously, she was Poetry Director and Director of Marketing & Communications at Hill-Stead Museum (Farmington, CT) and General Manager of the Oberlin Consumers Co-op (OH). For many years, she owned and managed Everyday Books & Café, a Connecticut-based independent bookstore. She has served on the boards of the Willimantic Food Co-op (CT), Soul Mountain Retreat (East Haddam, CT), and Bowery Arts + Science (New York, NY). Twice nominated for a Pushcart Prize, she is a poet and fiction writer whose work has appeared widely in journals and in the anthology Gathered Light: The Poetry of Joni Mitchell’s Songs (Three O’Clock Press, 2013).
