Groundskeeper (2/28/17)

I-Park, an artists-in-residence program in East Haddam, has an immediate opening for an able-bodied groundskeeper to maintain its grounds and facilities, including gardens, lawns and an extensive trail system. We are seeking an organized, self-directed individual with a working knowledge of gardening and plant materials. The position is full-time but seasonal (March through November, with some part-time work in the off-season).
The position actually has 3 components: groundskeeper, facilities maintenance (requiring typical handyman skills) and studio assistant (artists’ support, which requires people-skills). Must have basic skills with lawn/garden tools, carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, equipment/vehicle maintenance. The position also requires project planning, preventive maintenance, managing the facilities budget and materials/equipment purchasing (in other words, there is some paperwork involved).
Qualified candidates must be experienced, have a stable work history, a clean driving record and be available to help out with our public events (generally one Saturday or Sunday per month). Creativity, flexibility, initiative, even-temperedness and an appreciation for the arts are highly valued. Interested individuals should visit www.i-park.org to gain an understanding of the organization.
If you feel a strong connection and have the proper skills, send a resume and letter of interest to Joanne Paradis at joanne@i-park.org or call 860-306-0636. EOE.
