Tim Norris

Specializing in large-scale outdoor sculptures made from robust natural materials, Tim Norris draws inspiration from the surrounding landscape and uses indigenous natural materials whenever possible. Always having had a passion for the outdoors, his sculptures aim to encourage a sense of interaction: either by sitting within, clambering over, or wandering through and inside. Similarly, he is very interested in the source of his materials and the meaning or history they may contain our landscapes being filled with the history of their making either geologically or in the wake of industry and occupation. What’s left behind is a unique blend of nature and industry, one influencing the other. The materials and processes he uses seeks to continue that relationship.

Norris is a graduated from the Canterbury School of Art in 1995 and has, since, undertaken a number of commissions and participated in several residencies. He is a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and regularly leads workshops in drawing and sculpture for a number of arts educational charities.
