Founder-led Guided Walks

August 27 - November 12

For 2023, we are reactivating our popular founder’s guided trail walks.

Led by I-Park’s co-founder, Ralph Crispino, groups of between 8 and 12 guests at a time will be introduced, in a unique way, to the land and lore of I-Park. Each trail walk will be customized based on the date and time preferences, and particular interests, of the group. A short survey will be sent in advance to gauge your preferences and priorities.

You’ll be exposed to the best of the best trails and art installations. You’ll learn about the 23-year history of I-Park’s artists-in-residence program, including some of the amazing projects that have been conceived here. You’ll also hear some weird and improbable human interest stories. I-Park has sponsored over 1200 fully-funded artists’ residencies over the years, so you can only imagine . . .

Cost per guest: $50

All proceeds go to support I-Park’s International Artists-in-Residence Program and its Community Engagement Initiatives. The I-Park Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit charity under the IRS code. Your contribution is fully tax deductible.

Refreshments will be served upon arrival.

We’ll need a minimum of 8 guests in order to schedule the event. If we fail to reach this number by the designated deadline, your funds will be promptly refunded.

Plan for a 1.5 hour walk, though it can be longer or shorter based on your enthusiasm and stamina.

While guided tours are sometimes scheduled to coincide with Open Trails Days (see below), they can also, with advance planning, be scheduled around your particular availability.

The following proposed dates and times are presently on offer:
Sunday August 27, 5:00 pm – cutoff deadline August 27
September 2: 9:00 am, 11:30 am, 5:30 pm – cutoff deadline August 31
October 7: 9:00 am, 11:30 am, 5:30 pm – cutoff deadline October 5
November 4: 10:00 am, 2:00 pm, 5:00 pm – cutoff deadline November 2

You are welcome to suggest your own preferred times/dates so long as you have a minimum party of eight. Dates and times from September through November are subject to change.

Note that if we don’t have commitments for a minimal group of eight by the cutoff deadline, we will either promptly refund your contribution or reschedule you for a later date – your call.

If you have questions or are interested in booking a guided trail walk, please contact Joanne Paradis at 860-873-2468 or by e-mail her at events@i-park.org.

Please note that pets are not allowed on the I-Park grounds. And while some of the trails are wheelchair accessible, most are not. We will be pleased to discuss some possible accessibility workarounds. Don’t hesitate to ask.
