SUMMARY:I-Park Presents - Latitude 49: Five New Compositions | CT Concert
DESCRIPTION:This concert is the culmination of a 10-day residency at I-Park. In this intimate setting\, the participants will share ideas as they workshop five new works for their world premieres. The residency pairs a high-profile ensemble with five composers. Benefits for the composers: hearing their music refined and reimagined in real time\, candid dialogue and artistic risk-taking. And somewhat uniquely\, an assurance from the ensemble that the new works will have an impactful performance lifespan beyond the premiere. \nThis year’s ensemble-in-residence is Latitude 49. Blending the finesse of a classical ensemble with the drive and precision of a finely tuned rock band\, Latitude 49 has been energizing audiences with the most exciting music of our time since 2012. Latitude 49’s work with living composers is at the heart of its mission\, yielding nearly 100 premieres since the group’s founding in 2012 by a multitude of composers ranging from aspiring students to Pulitzer prize-winning masters. Latitude 49 is Max Geissler\, cello; Andy Hall\, saxophones; Andy Hudson\, clarinets; Jani Parsons\, piano; Chris Sies\, percussion and electronics; Timothy Steeves\, violin and viola. \nI-Park is proud to bring together the following composers and Latitude 49: \nDavid Crowell\, New York\nPeter Fahey\, Ireland\nGemma Peacocke\, New Zealand\nCole Reyes\, Illinois\nMax Vinetz\, New York \nThis onsite residency is a unique opportunity for composers and musicians to engage in a respectful\, creative dialogue. The compositions will be transformed in subtle\, and sometimes dramatic\, ways. The amount of rehearsal time invested in these performances will be readily apparent at the concert! \nIn person VIP with post concert reception tickets are $45\, or purchase a livestream ticket for $10.00. \nQuestions can be directed to events@i-park.org or 860-873-2468. \nThis year’s residency is generously funded by grants from the Bafflin Foundation\, Maximilian E. & Marion O. Hoffman Foundation and Elizabeth Raymond Ambler Trust. \nPhoto Credit: Brittany Faith Photography. \n
